Apalachee High School Mass Shooting; 4 Dead, 9 Injured, 14-Year-Old Suspect In Custody

UPDATE @ 4:30PM EST: During a police press conference, it was confirmed that armed resource officers were on scene and took the suspect into custody within minutes of the start of the shooting.

They confirmed that 4 people are deceased; 2 students and 2 teachers. An additional 9 people were injured.

Also confirmed is the suspect’s age, which is 14. The suspect is a male and was named during the press conference, but our policy states that we do not publish the names or images of mass shooters.

UPDATE @ 3:50PM EST: ABC News is reporting that the suspect is a 14-year-old student at the high school.

UPDATE @ 2:20PM EST: An update has revealed that 4 people were fatally shot and another 9 were injured. The suspect is in custody and is alive.

UPDATE @ 12:17PM EST: MSNBC reports that at least 2 people are dead and at least 4 injured in the mass shooting at Apalachee High School.

UPDATE @ 12:04PM EST: Local media 11 Alive reports that a suspect has been taken into custody. Multiple causalities have been reported but not confirmed.

BARROW COUNTY, GEORGIA — Reports are coming in about a possible school shooting after a significant law enforcement presence gathered at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, as seen in aerial footage from ANF’s First Alert Chopper.

Numerous ambulances and officers are visible on the scene, along with a medical helicopter. At least one individual was transported on a stretcher into the helicopter, and students have been evacuated to the school’s stadium.

Unconfirmed reports of casualties have been heard, but so far authorities have not released any information.
