Woman Fatally Shoots Knife-Wielding Intruder with Restraining Order

A man armed with several knives was fatally shot by a woman in Monrovia, California, after he violated a restraining order and attempted to stab two people at her home. The incident occurred on Friday night, and police are investigating with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA (3-minute read) — A man allegedly armed with several knives was fatally shot outside a woman’s home in Monrovia on Friday. The woman had previously obtained a restraining order against him.

Monrovia Police Department officers responded to a call from the woman around 9:20 p.m. at a residence in the 400 block of S. Shamrock Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the man deceased with a gunshot wound.

According to the police statement, the man had attempted to stab two people at the home. During the altercation, the woman discharged a firearm, fatally wounding him. His identity has not been released.

Investigators recovered several knives and a firearm at the scene. Two individuals were detained for questioning and voluntarily provided statements. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the Monrovia Police Department with the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact LASD’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
