MURRAY, UTAH — On Saturday, 18-year-old Imanuill Ahmed was detained for his involvement in a shooting at Fashion Place Mall in Murray. He faces multiple felony charges, including felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, riot, and criminal mischief.

The incident occurred on January 13 at the mall, located at 6191 South State Street. Reports indicated multiple participants in the shooting, who were apparently targeting each other.

Responding officers apprehended six individuals matching witness descriptions. One had a gunshot wound to the ankle. Investigation revealed these six had confronted a solitary male in the mall’s parking lot, leading to the male opening fire. This prompted Ahmed, part of the group, to also use a firearm in the exchange.

Ahmed, upon interrogation, admitted to emptying his firearm’s magazine and hiding it under a trash compactor. The altercation resulted in damage to several cars at the scene.

Ultimately, Ahmed was incarcerated in Salt Lake County Jail on the stated charges.
