Man Warns, Then Shoots Suspect Trying To Break Into His House

KNIGHTDALE, NORTH CAROLINA — A 35-year-old man, Juan Acevedo from Knightdale, was hospitalized after a homeowner shot him while he allegedly attempted a break-in. The incident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1300 block of Redwood Valley Lane, Knightdale.

The homeowner reported shooting Acevedo after he broke a window to enter the house and ignored verbal warnings. Police found Acevedo with a gunshot wound and transported him to WakeMed Trauma Center; his current condition remains undisclosed.

While no charges have been filed against the homeowner, authorities are discussing the case with the district attorney. The nature of potential charges against Acevedo is not yet confirmed.
