Maine Killer Likely Alive For Most Of 2-Day Search, Suggests Autopsy

A state medical examiner determined that the Army reservist responsible for the deadly shooting in Lewiston, Maine, likely committed suicide 8 to 12 hours before his body was found. This revelation implies that the suspect was alive for a significant time during the manhunt that ensued after the October 25 incident where he killed 18 people and injured 13 others.

The intensive search had the community on edge, with many residents staying indoors.

The suspect’s body was eventually located in a tractor-trailer at his previous workplace, a week after the attacks. His abandoned vehicle had been found earlier in the search not far from where he was eventually located.
