Most Comprehensive Set Of Gun Laws Go Into Effect Today In Connecticut Since Sandy Hook

Published

As of October 1, expansive gun legislation, the most comprehensive since the Sandy Hook shooting, is being enacted, following Governor Lamont’s endorsement of the bills over the summer. These reforms are part of over 100 new laws instituted in the recent legislative term, which the Governor underscored in a recent press conference.

The core stipulations of the new legislation involve a prohibition on the open carrying of firearms in public areas and the enhancement of secure storage laws. However, concealed carrying of firearms is still permissible with a permit, under the condition that the firearm remains unseen in public spaces.

Additionally, the legislation imposes a purchase limitation, allowing only three firearms to be acquired per month. It also mandates augmented training prerequisites for permit holders.
