Man Fatally Shot While Attempting To Enter Ex’s Apartment: Police

GONZALES, LOUISIANA — According to law enforcement, a man lost his life after receiving multiple gunshot wounds when he attempted to enter his former partner’s apartment over the past weekend.

The individual, identified as Joshua Jones, a 35-year-old from Donaldsonville, was admitted to the hospital following the incident, as confirmed by the Gonzales Police Department on Tuesday. He did not survive his injuries.

The incident occurred late on Saturday night when Jones allegedly tried to forcefully enter an apartment situated on South Lanoux Avenue. The present boyfriend of Jones’s ex-partner was reportedly present inside the apartment at the time. Authorities indicate that Jones was shot when he was in the act of breaking the bedroom window.

As of now, the police have not disclosed who was responsible for discharging the firearm.

No arrests have been made while the investigation continues.
