Apparent Intruder Shot In What Is Being Investigated As “Justifiable Homicide”

ALBEQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO — Albuquerque police are investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred overnight.

The first incident involved a business owner claiming self-defense after shooting an alleged intruder, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the 5800 block of Zuni SE.

The business owner reportedly used a firearm to defend himself against a man attempting to break in with burglary tools.

The intruder, who has not been identified, reportedly died from gunshot wounds.

Detectives are collaborating with the District Attorney’s Office to examine the validity of the business owner’s self-defense claim, according to the Journal.

He was released from the scene after being interviewed.
