HOUSTON, TEXAS — A military veteran in a wheelchair defended himself against a robbery attempt near METRO headquarters in downtown Houston on Monday night, according to authorities.
Police arrived at the scene around 9 p.m. to find the wheelchair-bound man and the injured suspect, who had been shot multiple times, according to ABC 15.
The veteran reported that he had been waiting for a ride when the suspect tried to steal his bag, prompting him to open fire.
The suspect, who collapsed a few hundred yards away, was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. The condition of the man in the wheelchair remains undisclosed.
