Report: Two Would-Be Carjackers Stopped By Armed Citizen

OAK LAWN, ILLINOIS — On Wednesday, in the 6500 block of W. 89th Place in Oak Lawn, two armed individuals allegedly tried to steal a car but were thwarted by the driver who was armed with a gun, according to reports.

The driver fired approximately eight shots at the suspects causing them to flee in a black Jeep. The Jeep was later located in the 6200 block of W. 90th Street, according to WGNTV.

The suspected carjackers were picked up by an unknown individual driving an older white Dodge Charger with damage to the rear passenger door, according to law enforcement. The victim was unharmed in the incident.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and authorities had not released a description of them at the time of WGNTV’s initial report.
