Argentina VP Escapes Assassination Attempt After Gun Fails To Fire

Published

A suspect was quickly taken into custody after allegedly trying to assassinate Argentina VP Cristina Fernández as she greeted supporters outside her home Thursday night. The incident was caught on multiple cameras and appears to show the loaded gun pointed directly at her face.

Even though the trigger was pulled, the gun did not fire and the suspect, who has not been identified, was arrested.

The incident happened so quickly, and would absolutely have been deadly had the gun discharged a round. It could have been a failed strike on the primer, a hard primer, or a malfunctioning gun. In any case, this VP is extremely lucky to be alive.
