SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — According to local Police, a 28-year-old woman claimed to have shot her 33-year-old Boyfriend inside of their apartment in self-defense, sending him to the hospital in critical condition.

Around 1:15 PM on July 29, 2022, local police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex at the 1600 block of Jackson Keller Road in north-side San Antonio, Texas, to respond to reports of a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival to the scene, a woman told police that she had shot her boyfriend while her children were in another room.

According to authorities, the woman used a pistol that she had stowed in her purse prior to the police officers arriving on scene. The pistol has since been recovered.

The man suffered from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was reported to be harmed at the scene of the crime.

The woman was detained, but it is unclear if she will face any charges for the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and prosecutors will have to determine if the shooting was indeed justified by self-defense.

Her children, one of whom is a 9-month-old infant, are currently in child protective custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
