RIGBY, IDAHO — A middle school went into chaos after a gunman opened fire, shooting 2 students and 1 faculty member. Their conditions are said to be non-life threatening.

According to the AP, a student was taken into custody after the shooting occurred. The incident began just after 9 am local time, and police were called after gun shots were heard by teachers and students.

“Me and my classmate were just in class with our teacher — we were doing work — and then all of a sudden, here was a loud noise and then there were two more loud noises. Then there was screaming,” 12-year-old Yandel Rodriguez said. “Our teacher went to check it out, and he found blood.”

Students were quickly evacuated and taken to a safe location where they were reunited with parents.

The investigation is ongoing.
