9 People Shot, 2 Dead In Shooting At Virginia Beach Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA — Police confirm a shooting with multiple victims at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront late Friday night. Calls began coming into 911 around 11:30 pm local time.

A local reporter tweeted that the police chief confirmed that 9 people had been shot, 2 fataly.

According to Daily Mail, at least 10 people were shot during the incident. The website also describes the event as a ‘gun battle’, leading to speculation that the shooting involved two parties engaging each other.

WAVY News 10 is on the scene and saw Virginia Beach police detaining multiple people around 1:30 a.m. EST. The reason for their detention was not immediately clear.
