Man Suspected Of Pulling Handgun During Argument Is Shot Dead By Concealed Carrier

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – An argument between several people mid-morning on Wednesday left one of the men dead after he allegedly pulled a gun.  Arlington Police say the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. in the 700 block of Buckskin Trail, near Vandergriff Park.

Responding officers found Andrew Reed, 22, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds which proved fatal.  Investigators say that he was involved in a verbal altercation with three other people, all of whom knew each other.

During the argument, Reed reportedly pulled a handgun and pointed it at one of the other individuals, with that person shooting Reed in an apparent case of self-defense.  The shooter was not arrested, and it is likely that the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office will take the case to a grand jury for consideration.

Arguments, often over trivial matters, sometimes escalate to physical altercations such as fist fights and are settled with nothing more than a bloody nose.  However, sometimes the first indication of physical violence may be that of a lethal threat, such as a knife, gun or other object, tool or weapon that can be used to severely injure or kill the intended victim or victims.

Such appears to be the case in this incident, where the intended victim was properly prepared and met a lethal threat with lethal force in self-defense.
