21-Year-Old Woman Shoots And Kills Man Who Broke Into Her Car

MIDLAND, TEXAS — A 21-year-old woman shot and killed a man who she found had broken into her vehicle and was stealing items. The incident happened around 4 a.m.

According to MPD, a 21 year old woman had gone to her vehicle and found a man inside without her consent who was stealing her items.

The woman shot the man, who was identified as Jarrod Adron Roberts, 36.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives interviewed the woman and released her, stating that no arrests have been made at this point.

The information surrounding the incident is listed above. That’s literally all we know. Any details such as the woman talking with the suspect, or being threatened by the suspect, are completely unknown.

Texas is a state that has self-defense laws that are more relaxed than other parts of the Country. Example; deadly force can sometimes be used when property is being stolen.

If this is all that was happening, meaning Roberts had no weapon and didn’t threaten the woman, it’s a tough sale for the use of lethal self-defense in my book. If you’re able to get away, which is the top priority, that is exactly what you should be doing. Putting your life in potential danger over a vehicle and personal belongings is dangerous waters.

You could argue that Roberts put his life in danger when he decided to commit the crime, and that’s fair, but we need to look out for our best interests. Reality shows us that this incident could have gone another way, and quickly.

But, you can also say that for a number of different possible outcomes. So I guess, your best bet is to know and understand the laws in the area, and make your best decisions if you are faced with something such as this.

And likely, that’s exactly what happened.
