Attempted Jewelry Store Robbery Leaves Owner with Stab Wound and Suspect with Multiple Gunshot Wounds after Owner Fights Back

Published

HAMTRAMCK, MICHIGAN — A Friday afternoon quickly turned violent when a man intent on robbing Naya’s Jewelry entered the store. Before attempting to steal anything, the suspect stabbed the store owner in the head, and the owner responded by shooting him four times.

The store owner was alert and oriented following the incident and was able to provide responding police officers with the details of the altercation. Both he and the suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. The owner is expected to recover.

The identity and condition of the suspect was not released, nor were details of the charges that he may face.

Had the owner not been armed himself, he could have very well been killed by this attacker. The importance of keeping a firearm close by is highlighted yet again, in this very-real-world story about a good guy with a gun successfully defending himself.
