Red Flag Law Goes Into Effect This Saturday In New York

Published

ALBANY, NEW YORK — Governor Cuomo signed a bill into law that goes into effect this Saturday the 24th. The Red Flag Law will allow certain people to report a person as a danger to themselves or others, and create a temporary removal of that person’s firearms.

Those able to request the firearms removal are school officials, police, district attorneys and household members.

The request would need to be presented to a judge to sign off on.

If someone does have their firearms removed, they will need to fight the courts in order to get their firearms back. And who knows how this new law will be abused.

Good luck, New York.
