Child Custody Dispute Turns Gun Fight At Orlando Gas Station

Published

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — A custody exchange between a father and mother turned into both sides exchanging bullets. It happened at a WaWa gas station in Orlando, and highlights another reason why we carry.

30-year-old Britney Gunn was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.  The police report says Gunn and a child’s Mother got into a fight with the child’s Father during a custody exchange. The report says the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the Father.

Police say he shot back with his own gun.

The father fired his gun into the woman’s car in self-defense, reports show. We aren’t sure where the child was at the time, but let’s hope she was in a safe place.

A detailed account of the incident can be read here.

The incident occurred around 6:30 pm at night and was caught on surveillance video.

No one was injured.

As a concealed carrier, one needs to think about these situations and how they would react if they found themselves in the immediate area. Who’s the bad person? Who’s the good person? Are they both bad? There’s no way to know and whenever possible, the top priority is to get yourself and your family out of harms way and get on the phone with police.

Some people may make the decision to intervene, but the number of unknown variables is usually too great to risk such an encounter.
