Recently, we discussed a report on anti-gunner David Hogg’s being flanked with what appeared to be armed bodyguards — it’s the same thing we see over and over: “You can’t have your guns, but man, I sure want them around me.”
Well, here we are again.
Father Michael Pfleger, a staunch anti-gunner and activist, just very publicly added his name to the hypocritical list when it was discovered that his body guard, Henry Hale, was packing a little heat of his own.
Oh, and he wasn’t carrying legally, like, at all.
Check out this report by the Chicago City Wire:
An armed security guard associated with staunch anti-gun and nationally known social activist, Father Michael Pfleger, was arrested on May 27 outside St. Sabina’s Roman Catholic Church on the South Side where Pfleger is a senior pastor. The Chicago Police (CPD) charged Henry Eugene Hale, 35, with possessing a firearm without a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card. He was released on $150 bond.
A spokesperson for the CPD told Chicago City Wire that police officers approached Hale at the church, which is at 1200 W. 78th Place, when “they saw him holding a firearm.”
There’s two sides to this coin, of course:
First of all, if you’re going to be a security guard, know and obey laws pertaining to your flipping job. I mean, come on.
At the same time, however, the mere concept of a Firearm Owner ID card is ludicrous. It hurts a little to point out infractions of stuff like this, because the FOID is a terrible institution.
Pfleger very likely backs the FOID, however, which seems more than enough reason to me to expect his guard to follow the laws — or better yet, remain as armed as Pfleger wants to see all of us.
