Firstly, I am writing this article from 38,000 feet in the air, courtesy of Southwest Airlines. The wifi is a nice feature but man is it slow. It is nice, however, that Southwest doesn’t block my favorite pro-gun sites like other wifi networks around the country do. Ten points for them.
Ok, onto the ridiculousness.
In possibly the worst PSA to ever come into existence regarding gun control and irrational fears, the creators of this particular video are the only ones creating actual fear.

Director Rejina Sincic created this masterpiece that shows a boy going into his mother’s room and removing a handgun from her dresser drawer. He then places the unholstered firearm into his backpack and brings it to school.
My initial impression, as many would have, is that the PSA is going to turn into a school shooting. However, there is a twist at the end of the video. After class, the boy goes up to his teacher while she is sitting at her desk, pulls out the handgun and then places it on her desk. After he does this, he says “Can you take this away? I don’t feel safe with a gun in my house.”
If a kid were to actually do this, he would be facing numerous felonies and would be taken out of the school in handcuffs. A tragedy could happen in numerous ways, one of which would be if a firearm is carelessly stolen and placed into a backpack with nothing covering the trigger. And we’re inclined to believe that the firearm is loaded, given it’s original location. It’s an accident waiting to happen, and it’s very careless for anyone to show something like this, especially with kids involved.
Shame on the director for publishing this. And they say we’re impressionable on kids? We don’t set kids up for felony convictions. We help to educate them on proper firearm safety.
Try again.
