Bodycam Video Released In July 9th Mass Shooting In Cleveland, Suspect Appears In Court

CLEVELAND, OHIO — A 25-year-old male suspected of carrying out a mass shooting on West 6th Street in downtown Cleveland, injuring nine people, made his initial court appearance. The judge set his bond at $9 million, reflecting $1 million for each victim. The suspect attempted to defend himself several times during the proceedings but was advised to stay quiet by his lawyer. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 21.

Bodycam video was released by police who responded to the incident immediately. That video can be viewed below.

The suspect was apprehended from his residence in Lorain, facing charges including nine counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm on a public road, illegal possession of a handgun, and possession of weapons under disability. The shooting incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, affecting victims ranging in age from 23 to 38, with injuries to the limbs.

According to Cleveland’s police chief, two victims were released from MetroHealth Medical Center, with the remaining seven receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Surveillance footage obtained from a local business shows the crowd dispersing in panic after the shooting.
