12-Year-Old Shoots And Kills Fast Food Employee With AR-15 After Argument

KEENE, TEXAS — A tragic incident unfolded at a Sonic drive-in restaurant in Keene, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. According to authorities, a 12-year-old child is accused of fatally shooting a fast-food employee with an AR-15 rifle during a heated argument with another man. The victim, 32-year-old Matthew Davis, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and sadly passed away after being taken to the hospital.

The altercation began when Angel Gomez, 20, arrived at the Sonic with passengers in his vehicle. Gomez engaged in a heated argument and displayed disorderly behavior in the restaurant’s parking lot. It was reported that Davis, an employee at Sonic, approached Gomez after finding him urinating at the back of the parking lot. Davis attempted to engage Gomez in conversation.

The situation then escalated rapidly. Amidst the argument, the 12-year-old suspect, who remains unidentified, allegedly took an AR-15 rifle from Gomez’s car and proceeded to open fire. Davis was struck by the gunfire.

Following the shooting, both the child and Gomez fled the scene. However, Gomez later returned to the Sonic drive-in and was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement. Meanwhile, authorities located the 12-year-old suspect at a residence, where they also recovered multiple firearms.

Both the child and Gomez now face charges of murder in connection with the incident. Davis, who had recently moved to Keene and had been working at Sonic for only two weeks, left behind a one-year-old son. The loss of his life has undoubtedly left his family and the community devastated by this senseless act of violence.
