PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — Authorities in Philadelphia have initiated a manhunt for two individuals who escaped from the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center. The escapees are Nasir Grant, 24, and Ameen Hurst, 18, who fled the facility located in Northeast Philadelphia at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of each person.
Ameen Hurst, standing at approximately 6 feet tall, has black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his left arm that reads “ONLY THE FAM!!” He was in custody on murder charges, accused of killing four individuals. His alleged crimes include a Christmas Eve 2020 shooting, a March 2021 incident resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to two others, and a fatal shooting outside the same correctional center from which he escaped.
Nasir Grant, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, was being held for narcotics and gun violations. He possesses a left arm tattoo that reads “DEDICATION.” Both Grant and Hurst are considered armed and dangerous.
The City and law enforcement partners are working to quickly apprehend these individuals, and we plan to conduct a thorough investigation into how they were able to escape.
