Report: Assailant Brings Knife To Fight, Countered By Gun Owner

FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA — On Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, a man sustained multiple gunshot wounds, as reported by the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The shooter claimed that the victim had tried to attack him with a knife, according to Patch.

No details have been released about the shooter or victim, as no charges have been made.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. on Ivanhoe Court, when a man contacted 911 to inform them that he had shot someone he knew outside his residence.

The caller explained that the victim had attempted to attack him with a knife.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered a man who had been shot numerous times.

They administered first aid until emergency medical services arrived and took the victim to a nearby hospital. The police department has interviewed witnesses and the shooter and has secured the firearm used in the shooting.
