BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Multiple people were shot just after 9 p.m. EST in a Brooklyn neighborhood, and police confronted the suspect upon arrival.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired at Rochester Ave and Dean St. in Crown Heights saw a wounded man just after 9:15 p.m., and a gunman hiding behind the fence near the Kingsborough Houses, an NYPD spokesman said.

Police engaged the suspect shortly after they arrived. It is unclear if the suspect or police shot first after their arrival.
The suspect was shot and killed by police.
It is reported that three civilians and two police officers were taken to the hospital, but it’s unclear if they were all shot or were suffering from other injuries.
An illegally-owned handgun was found, a photo of which was released by Chief Terence Monahan.
Currently in Brooklyn at the scene of a police-involved shooting. When officers arrived at Rochester Avenue & Bergen Street, they observed a male shot.
