*WATCH* The Dreaded Squib Load

I’m not sure how I missed this post on Embrace The Recoil’s Instagram page, but I did. Old or new, it’s always worth a share to show what a squib load looks like and how to tell if that’s what just happened to you. The video above is from YouTube and shows two different squib loads, and also gives some information on what a squib load actually is. By definition; A squib load, also known as a squib round, pop and no kick, or just a squib, is a firearm malfunction in which a fired projectile does not have enough force behind it to exit the barrel, and thus becomes stuck. This type of malfunction can be extremely dangerous, as failing to notice that the projectile has become stuck in the barrel may result in another round being fired directly into the obstructed barrel, resulting in a catastrophic failure of the weapon’s structural integrity. If something doesn’t seem right, ALWAYS check your firearm. This includes the barrel. With your firearm unloaded, use a cleaning rod to see if any obstruction is in the barrel.
