Shopkeep Discovers Armed Burglar In His Store — Retrieves A Gun And Shoots Suspect In The Face

MOUNTAIN PINES, ARKANSAS — A local convenience store owner showed up to his shop a little after midnight when he heard alarms going off from his store. When he got inside, he saw a man with a gun and a bag of cash. He allegedly rushed behind the counter, grabbed a shotgun, and told the man to drop the gun. The man obviously thought he had the advantage and took a shot at the shopkeep. The shopkeep returned fire, striking the suspect in the face.

According to CBS THV 11 News, the burglar was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The shopkeep won’t be charged with any wrongdoing whatsoever because he had every right to defend himself and his property.

The shopkeep, in this case, had to go retrieve a gun before he could defend himself from an armed intruder. Can we see where this situation had some serious potential to go wrong?

There’s nothing wrong with using a gun to protect yourself and your property — especially from a bad guy with a gun.

The real problem rears its ugly head when the store owner has to run to where his shotgun is located. What if that burglar already found the gun? What if that burglar has his gun?

These are questions that won’t be answered until the store owner is at that location. By that point, not only has he lost the initiative on getting first response, he may be caught with his proverbial pants around his ankles.

That’s a bad spot for a good guy to get stuck in. That’s why we strongly encourage gun owners to carry a gun on them rather than stage a gun in a place he or she may not be able to get to.

It worked out for the store owner and it didn’t work out for the bad guy. Great. Let’s not take that chance in our own lives by making sure we keep a gun on us at all times. It’s not just our place of work we have to worry about — it’s everyone else that can be hurt by a gun stolen from our possession by a bad guy with nothing to lose.

Be careful out there and carry everyday, everywhere you can.
