Watch What Stupid Looks Like: Man Shot And Killed While Approaching Car With Gun

A tragic road rage incident in Indianapolis resulted in the death of 29-year-old newlywed Gavin Dasaur, highlighting the importance of de-escalation techniques and responsible gun ownership.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (2-minute read) — A tragic confrontation on Indianapolis’ southeast side Tuesday night ended in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Gavin Dasaur. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call about a person shot around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of E. Thompson Road and S. Emerson Avenue.

When police arrived, they found Dasaur lying in the middle of the road with gunshot wounds and a firearm nearby. Despite efforts, Dasaur was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video of the shooting can be viewed below. You’ll notice Dasaur at the vehicle, handgun in right hand. Soon after, he seems to move his gun to his left hand while raising his right hand to the driver. The driver, likely believing that he was going to be shot, fired in self-defense.

Dasaur had recently married his wife, Viviana ZaMora, on June 29, just a little over two weeks before the incident.

IMPD reported that one person was detained and questioned at the scene but was later released. The exact details of what led to the shooting have not been released, but it has come to light that the incident began as a confrontation between Dasaur and another driver.

Dasaur, unfortunately, confronted the other driver, a decision that ultimately led to his death. This situation serves as a stark reminder that firearms should be handled responsibly, and confrontation should be avoided whenever possible.

The Importance of De-Escalation and Responsible Gun Ownership

Confronting others, especially in potentially volatile situations like road rage incidents, is never advisable. De-escalation techniques, such as remaining calm, avoiding aggressive behavior, and disengaging from the situation, can prevent tragedies like this. Instead of resorting to confrontation, it’s crucial to prioritize safety and avoid escalating conflicts.

Responsible gun ownership involves not only safe storage and handling of firearms but also understanding when and how to use them. In this case, Dasaur’s decision to bring a firearm into the confrontation was irresponsible and ultimately deadly. Had he employed de-escalation techniques and avoided the confrontation, this incident might have been prevented.

Safety Tip: In a road rage incident or any confrontation, prioritize de-escalation techniques. Remain calm, avoid aggressive responses, and if necessary, disengage and seek help.

Either the video is poor quality or there is more here than being reported.

The video does show someone acting stupidly approaching the vehicle, which appears to be from a dark colored car… and the white truck is behind which suggests the white truck as following the dark car.
The video shows the stupid person with a firearm in his hand and he punches the truck door with it….

But, the video also shows after he moved his gun to his left hand.. which the truck occupant probably could not see…. he lifted his arm at an angle away from the driver and pointed… and there is a delay between the arm lift and when the driver fired multiple shots.

This appears to need more investigation.

I don’t care whose to blame for the traffic/road issue, if someone is road raging and dumb enough to drive aggressively in a 2-ton missle with a steering wheel, following them into a parking lot or stopping roadside and approaching them with a gun in hand demonstrates a number of things, least of all that you are in anyway a victim.

Newsflash: this isn’t NASCAR, you’re not Dale Ernhadt, Epstein didn’t hang himself, youre likely not a cop, and it doesn’t matter how “in the right” you are, confrontation like this never proves anything apart from whose dumb and whose dead. Leave a wide birth, get a dash cam and learn to call 9-1-1: nothing on the road is worth dying over.
