UPDATE: Elias Huizar was pursued by Oregon State Police (OSP) on Interstate 5 near Eugene, Oregon, and the manhunt concluded when Huizar died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head during the chase. This incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. Following the event, 1-year-old Roman Santos was found safe and is now in OSP custody. The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed for several hours due to the police activity but reopened around 8:15 p.m. the same evening.

WEST RICHLAND, WA (2-minute read) – An AMBER Alert has been activated in Washington State following a tragic sequence of events involving former Yakima police officer Elias Huizar. Authorities have reported that Huizar is suspected of fatally shooting his wife and ex-girlfriend before abducting his 1-year-old son, Roman Huizar.

The incident began outside William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland, where Huizar allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend to death before fleeing the area. The search at his residence later revealed the body of his deceased wife, escalating the urgency of the manhunt.

Elias Huizar, 39, is approximately 5′6″ and weighs 170 lbs., with brown hair and eyes. He is believed to be escaping in a 2009 silver Toyota Corolla, license plate CBZ-745, possibly heading towards Mexico. His son, Roman, described as 2′6″ tall and 25 lbs., also has brown hair and eyes.
