BRONX, NEW YORK CITY — A recent shooting at the Mount Eden subway station in the Bronx has resulted in multiple injuries and one fatality. The incident occurred on Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m. on the northbound platform for the No. 4 train.
Among the victims, aged 14 to 71, a 34-year-old man was fatally wounded and later pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.
The other victims include a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman, and a 71-year-old man. Their injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.

The shooting was not random. Gun shots were fired during a dispute, leaving one victim dead and five injured.

NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper, during a Tuesday evening briefing, stated that the shooting was not random but stemmed from a conflict between two groups of teenagers on the northbound No. 4 train. As the train arrived at the station and the doors opened, at least one individual brandished a firearm and began shooting. Some of the injured are believed to be part of the initial altercation, though their specific involvement remains uncertain.
The police are investigating the role of the deceased 34-year-old man, trying to ascertain whether he was a participant in the dispute or an innocent bystander. Chief Kemper emphasized the need for swift and decisive action once the perpetrators are apprehended.
The NYPD is actively searching for at least one suspect linked to the shooting.
