Homeowner Shoots Intruder Wanted For Stabbing 77-Year-Old Woman To Death

FAYETTE COUNTY, GEORGIA — A 28-year-old man, Michael James Brooks II, hailing from Columbus, Ohio, is facing a series of charges after a harrowing incident in Fayette County. Accused of stabbing a 77-year-old woman to death, Brooks found himself on the wrong end of justice during a home invasion. Responding to a call about a possible intruder just before 2 a.m. on Thursday, local authorities were swiftly on the scene.

The homeowner, taking matters into his own hands, armed himself as deputies closed in on the location. Confronting the intruder, who was armed with a knife, the homeowner issued a warning before firing a shot. As the intruder persisted, he fired a second shot, resulting in the arrival of deputies who found the intruder wounded. A struggle ensued, leading to the intruder’s arrest.

Michael James Brooks II is currently recovering in a nearby hospital, but once released, he will face charges including home invasion, burglary, and theft in Georgia, as well as murder charges in Ohio. It was revealed that the intruder had a history of criminal activities primarily in the Columbus area and along the Interstate 75 corridor.
