Suspect “Laughing Like A Maniac” Before Shooting At Police Helicopter, According To 911 Caller

HOUSTON, TEXAS — A man that was apparently experiencing a mental crisis was apprehended after allegedly opening fire on a police helicopter early Sunday morning, the Houston Police Department reported.

At approximately 2:27 a.m., a woman reported her father assaulting her mother and shooting within a residence near Glenbrook Park, according to KTRK.

The suspect, her father, was heard “laughing like a maniac,” according to the woman while handling the gun he’d later use on law enforcement, investigators reported.

The household on Crenshaw Street had five occupants, including the accused individual, according to KTRK.

Upon police arrival, the man started shooting at the responding helicopter, confirmed by Lt. JP Horelica according to KTRK.

Fortunately, somehow, no injuries were reported.
