LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — Emma Kusak, 18, has been denied bail over allegations of committing murder at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She faces charges including open murder, robbery, and car theft. The incident occurred on June 29, and she was arrested and detained on July 26, her 18th birthday.
Kusak informed Las Vegas Metropolitan Police that she had shot a man named Charlie Satrustegui on the hotel’s 12th floor. The two had met on a dating app and had been communicating for two months prior to meeting in Las Vegas.
Kusak recounted to the police that after consuming alcohol in Satrustegui’s room, he tried to eject her because she was coughing loudly. She claimed she shot him fearing an attack. Yet, her account was later deemed inconsistent by detectives.
During her court appearance on August 7, Kusak’s request for bail was declined. Her lawyers were granted a two-week delay to prepare a motion to exclude certain evidence, despite the prosecution’s objection.
Kusak is scheduled to appear in court again on August 21.
