A violent incident in Queens, New York, led to one fatality and multiple injuries on Saturday when a man on a scooter embarked on an apparently random shooting rampage. The attacker, a 25-year-old male, was later arrested without incident.

While details on the victims are limited, police confirmed an 87-year-old man was among the deceased. The ordeal was captured on surveillance, showing the suspect circling back on Jamaica Avenue and 109th Street before shooting at a pedestrian. The events occurred around 11:30 a.m., spanning several blocks near the bustling Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill.

By 1 p.m., police apprehended the suspect, identifying him by the scooter described in the wanted notice. Subsequent investigations revealed five separate crime scenes, supporting the theory of random attacks. A nearby beauty store suffered window damage due to the shootings, and eyewitnesses reported seeing a victim collapse.

The NYPD counterterrorism unit cordoned off several streets into the late afternoon. The motive for the shootings remains unknown as investigations continue.
