Gunfire At FL Outlet Mall Sends Shoppers Running For Cover

Published

MANATEE COUNTY, FLORIDA — Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that took place on Sunday, May 7, at around 4:40 PM. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred in the east parking lot of Ellenton Premium Outlets and involved individuals in separate vehicles whose identities remain unknown.

Eyewitnesses observed the suspects firing at each other before hastily fleeing the scene, leaving bystanders in a state of shock. Promptly responding to the commotion, mall security swiftly notified both the stores and customers, advising them to stay put until law enforcement officials could assess the situation. Normal operations resumed around 5:15 PM, once it was determined that there was no ongoing threat.

Authorities have reason to believe that this was a targeted dispute between individuals who were already acquainted, rather than an indiscriminate act of violence targeting innocent shoppers or passersby. In an effort to bring the culprits to justice, law enforcement has recovered crucial evidence from the parking lot and is diligently pursuing multiple leads.

Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries resulting from the incident. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward by contacting them at (941) 747-3011.
