1 Dead, 6 Injured In Mississippi Restaurant Shooting

OCEAN SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI — According to police, a tragic incident occurred during a Cinco de Mayo celebration at a restaurant in Mississippi. One individual lost their life, and at least six others were injured in a shooting.

The Ocean Springs Police Department confirmed that the shooting took place at The Scratch Kitchen on Government Street, with seven people being shot in total.

The surviving victims were taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention, and the severity of their injuries has not been disclosed at this time.

The deceased individual was identified as Chase Harmon, a 19-year-old resident of Pascagoula.

As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been made, but the investigation is ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Ocean Springs Police Department.

The owner of The Scratch Kitchen stated that approximately 200 people were present at the restaurant when the shooter passed by the employees who were conducting security checks at the entrance. The owner clarified that the shooter was not a customer and did not have the necessary authorization to be present.
