Published

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A 21-year-old pregnant woman, Genesis Escobar, was shot and killed during a robbery attempt on the Northwest Side of Chicago.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon when Escobar allegedly entered a car in the 5200 block of West Montana Street and announced a robbery, according to Fox 32.

During the incident, gunfire was reportedly exchanged between occupants of the car and someone outside of the vehicle. Escobar was shot in the shoulder.

She was rushed to Illinois Masonic Medical Center but pronounced dead on arrival.

Unfortunately, her seven-month-old unborn baby also did not survive.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Iris Alvarez, a friend of Escobar who lives near the shooting, said, “We looked out the window and seen that the vehicle – someone opened the driver door, walked around the vehicle, pulled the body out and drove off.”

“…I feel that for a person to do that to someone, they don’t have a heart.”
