Late Night Gunfire Exchange Leaves Concealed Carrier Wounded And Assailant Dead

COLUMBUS, OHIO – One man is dead, and another is wounded following a late-night incident in German Village Wednesday night. The Columbus PD was dispatched to the intersection of Willow and Lazelle Streets shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. One of the men, 32-year-old Marcus George, was pronounced dead just before midnight.

The other man, a 36-year-old, spoke with investigators before he was taken to surgery. He stated that the other man approached and shot him in the leg. The survivor, a concealed-carry permit holder, returned fire resulting in the subsequent death of his assailant.

Two handguns were recovered at the scene by police. No charges have been filed and the investigation is on-going.
