Armed Robber Shot By Convenience Store Clerk Following Brief Struggle

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS – One of three men who attempted an armed robbery at a convenience store was shot by the store clerk. Around 7:50 a.m. deputies with Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Citgo Food Mart in the 15000 block of West Road near Highway 6 in northwest Harris County.

According to officials, two suspects entered the convenience store while a third suspect waited outside in a vehicle. One of the two inside the store was armed with a gun and held the clerk at gunpoint. The clerk, who was also armed, got into a brief struggle with the suspects which ended when he shot one of them.

At least one of the suspects fled to a nearby Chick-Fil-A where he found paramedics who were already in the area.  He sought help for his injured accomplice, who was then transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical but stable condition. All three suspects are now in custody and facing charges. The clerk who shot the suspect was not injured and is not expected to be charged in the incident.
