Armed Citizen Shoots Back After Being Shot With Paintball Gun While Pumping Gas, Thinking It Was Real Gun

Published

MICHIGAN CITY — Imagine that you’re pumping gas, when all of a sudden you’re shot with something, and you get a glimpse of the person who shot from a vehicle. If you’re armed, it’s realistic that you might shoot back.

That’s what happened to a concealed carrier in Michigan City, but at the time, he didn’t know that he was shot with a paintball gun and not a real one.

A man was pumping gas when a black car drove by and shot him point blank in the side with paintballs. Feeling the pain and seeing the gun, he then returned fire with his real gun.

Gas station surveillance video captured the moments from different angles.

Sgt. Cisco Rodriguez says real or not, guns aren’t toys. He does not expect the armed citizen to face any charges related to the incident.

“One of them kids that was in the car or someone walking by that had nothing to do with it could have been seriously hurt or shot because this gentleman legitimately thought he was being shot at and didn’t know until afterwards.”

It’s the third time, on record, that someone has been shot with a paintball gun in the area over the last month. Hopefully after this last incident, these kids realize that it’s not a game, it’s not funny, and it could have deadly consequences.
