ALBANY, NEW YORK — It’s been a busy week for the Empire State, ruled by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Earlier this week, he increased background checks to 30 days for people who came back pending from the FBI, banned bump stocks and 3D-printed guns, required gun owners living with people under 16 to have their firearms locked up, and now…
The new law, which took effect immediately, prohibits schools from allowing any employee to carry a firearm unless they are a police officer, school resource officer, peace officer or an armed security guard with the proper registration.

The law goes into effect immediately.
Prior to this law being on the books, it was left up to schools to make these decisions. They were able to provide written authorization to employees that would allow them to carry a gun or weapon on property that was owned by the district.
Now, they get shut down completely. If they are found with a firearm on school grounds, they’re facing a felony charge.
Cuomo offered some statements, including the following;
“The answer to the gun violence epidemic plaguing this country has never been and never will be more guns, and today we’re expanding New York’s nation-leading gun safety laws to further protect our children.”
I’m not sure if Cuomo is aware, but gun violence does not include law-abiding citizens. Even more, in fact, is that more guns in the hands of good people is absolutely an answer to mass shootings and the like.
We should know. We report of lawful self-defense with firearms on a daily basis.
