68-Year-Old Woman Shoots Aggressive Intruder Multiple Times

ROBESON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA — A woman went outside to her storage building after hearing a noise coming from that direction. When she opened the door, she found a man who then became aggressive.

[Major Anthony] Thompson said the woman shot at the man five times when he “starts towards her in an aggressive manner.”

He added said the woman told deputies “he was lunging towards her.”

The man was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. It is likely that he will be facing a few charges as a result of this incident.

When we ever go investigate a strange noise or when we hear something go bump in the night, it’s always a good idea to bring our firearm along. However, choose these investigations wisely. If it’s something that can wait for police to get there, such as someone in an unoccupied building, it’s sometimes best to have them handle it. But I guess in this particular case, the woman wouldn’t have found out that someone was inside unless she did the investigating herself.

Still, the person on the other side of the door could have a firearm as well, so we want to be careful with how we proceed into the unknown.
