TOPEKA, KANSAS — A few not-so-smart teenage criminals found themselves looking down the barrel of a legal concealed carrier’s firearm after they tried to rob an Academy Sports firearms department.
The thugs, covering their faces with bandannas because their mothers would most certainly not be proud of them, walked into an Academy Sports store in Topeka Kansas and began to grab several rifles and an undisclosed amount of cash.
An eyewitness told 13 news he was shopping there when he heard a loud crash. He said two men had pulled down a section of weapons that had been chained together and were running out of the store with several stolen weapons.
Bryan Hallman told 13 News, a third man was holding a handgun on a clerk at the front of the store when the two other robbers ran to the front door.
On their way out, however, they were met with a concealed carrier in the parking lot who drew his firearm and demanded that they drop theirs. They did, but then took off on foot.
The three suspects, 16 and 17 year olds, were later caught by police. They were booked on multiple counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and aggravated burglary and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
