Jumping through hoops and proving specific threats against her life with filed police reports, Emily Miller became the 16th person approved to carry a concealed firearm in our nation’s capital. That’s right, a total of 16 people can now legally carry concealed in DC.
The journey was well-documented, as you’ll see in the above video.
While Miller was approved, she is still required to take the 18 hours of safety courses required under the new law, and will need to complete this in the next 45 days.
In July of 2014, a judge ruled that DC’s ban on concealed carry was unconstitutional. That decision is what set all of this into motion, and made way for the first permits to be issued.
