BEVERLY HILLS, FLORIDA — 911 dispatches released through WBAY news reveal a nasty road rage incident involving a concealed carrier and another family.  According to those sources, Robert Eric Doyle informed 911 he was “locked and cocked” after reporting some “maniac” was trying to run him off the road.

The alleged maniac in question was Candelario Gonzalez, who reportedly was following Doyle after Doyle was driving aggressively.  Gonzalez’s wife stated her husband was following Doyle to report his driving to the police.  Both Doyle and Gonzalez maintained constant contact with 911 operators via their wives whom were seated next to them.

According to 911 tapes released by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, both men and their wives were on the phone with dispatchers while they were driving.

Gonzalez’s wife could be heard trying to get her husband to go home. She later told police Doyle was the aggressive driver and that her husband followed him to get his address so he could file a complaint.

Doyle told the operator: “They’re following me to my house. I’ll be there in 20 seconds; the guns are already out.”

As the two vehicles stopped in front of Doyle’s house, his wife could be heard begging him not to shoot.

“Don’t shoot. I’ve got 911 on the phone,” she yelled. But five shots were fired, leaving Gonzalez dead at the scene.

According to the arrest affidavit, after killing Gonzalez, Doyle held the rest of the family at gunpoint until police arrived.  Doyle told deputies that he feared for his life.  Unfortunately, the communication via 911 tells a completely different story.  Doyle had a concealed carry permit and was authorized to maintain a firearm on him in that manner.

He allegedly used it and now the State of Florida will be charging him with second degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
