CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A concealed carry permit holder in Chicago defended against an armed robber this week, marking yet another incident of lawfully armed citizens preventing crimes in the city. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when three men were confronted by an armed assailant demanding their belongings.
In response, one of the intended victims drew his legally concealed firearm and shot the perpetrator, who was later hospitalized for gunshot injuries. This occurrence is part of a larger trend in Chicago, with at least 44 incidents from 2020 to February 2023 involving legally armed individuals preventing criminal activity.
