RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — Authorities are in the process of responding to a reported gunfire incident that took place outside the Altria Theater during a high school graduation event.
A warning was issued on Tuesday afternoon by police, cautioning students of an ongoing shooting situation on the Monroe Park Campus and advising them to stay indoors.

It has been confirmed by Richmond Public Schools that a shooting incident transpired outside the theater following the graduation ceremony of Huguenot High School. The event took place in Monroe Park, which is in close proximity to the theater. Subsequently, the district has called off the Thomas Jefferson High School’s graduation ceremony that was due to take place at 7 p.m. today. Plans are underway to reschedule this event.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that up to five individuals may have been injured in the shooting.
