Father Claims Self-Defense In Fatal Shooting Of 16-Year-Old At Party

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS — An incident unfolded early Saturday morning where a 16-year-old boy lost his life during a high school party that took a deadly turn. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the shooting occurred outside a residence on Majesticbrook Drive near West Road in northwest Harris County in the early hours of Saturday.

The victim, identified as Isaac Zetino, had been involved in a confrontation with the father of a girl present at the party. Contrary to initial reports labeling it as a graduation party, Sheriff Gonzalez clarified that it was a post-prom gathering.

Around 1:30 a.m., with approximately 100 attendees, Zetino and another teenage boy found themselves in a heated altercation with the girl’s father. Firearms were drawn by all parties involved, leading to a tragic exchange of gunfire. Zetino suffered multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Zetino was known to be a friend of the girl who resided at the house where the incident took place. The father involved in the shooting claimed self-defense when interviewed by investigators, and the evidence found by the deputies supported his account.

While 15 witnesses were interviewed, many of the guests fled before law enforcement arrived, complicating the investigation. Presently, no charges have been filed, but once the investigation concludes, the case will be presented to a grand jury for further review.
