TheGuardian.com Calls Teen Shot By Police In St Louis A Victim. Stop It.

I am not trying to be insensitive to the situation, but calling the teen a victim is absurd. The term VICTIM, in cases like a shooting, is reserved for people who have had wrong done on them. It’s reserved for people who are true victims, like a homeowner who is shot and killed by an intruder. That homeowner is a victim. The intruder is the offender.

As stated in the previous articleIf you point a gun at someone, you should expect that you could get shot as a result of your actions.

The teen in this case was the offender. The perpetrator. Pick the term you wish, but it’s certainly not ‘victim’.

victim: one who is harmed or killed by another, especially by someone committing a criminal or unlawful act.

The authors of the article on TheGuardian.com, Matthew Weaver and Ed Pilkington, are not doing a good service to the country. They are a large part of the problem, and their reporting needs some serious evaluation.
